Last Updated: October 6, 2025

Our Commitment to Your Privacy

Snack Count is built with privacy as a core principle. We believe your personal data belongs to you, and you alone. This privacy policy explains how Snack Count handles your information.

The Short Version: We don't collect, store, transmit, or sell any of your data. Everything stays on your device.

Data Collection

Snack Count collects ZERO personal information.

We do not collect:

  • Your name, email, or contact information
  • Your location data
  • Your device identifiers
  • Your usage analytics
  • Your snacking data
  • Any other personal information

There is no account creation, no login system, and no connection to any servers or cloud services.

Data Storage

All data generated by Snack Count is stored locally on your device only using Apple's secure SwiftData framework. This includes:

  • Snack entry logs (date and time of each logged snack)
  • Your daily limit preferences
  • Your notification reminder settings
  • App settings and preferences

This data:

  • Never leaves your device
  • Is not transmitted over the internet
  • Is not accessible to Codeleaf Studio or any third parties
  • Is protected by your device's built-in security (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID)
  • Is deleted permanently if you delete the app

Data You Control

Delete Your Data

You can permanently delete all your snacking data through the "Reset All Data" option in Settings. This action:

  • Is immediate and irreversible
  • Removes all local data from your device
  • Cannot be recovered by us (we don't have copies)

Third-Party Services

Snack Count does not use any third-party services, including:

  • No analytics services (Google Analytics, Firebase, etc.)
  • No advertising networks
  • No crash reporting tools
  • No social media integrations
  • No cloud sync services

The app is completely self-contained and operates entirely offline.

Notifications

If you enable notifications, Snack Count will:

  • Request permission to send local notifications
  • Schedule reminder notifications at times you specify
  • Send motivational messages to help you stay mindful

These notifications:

  • Are generated locally on your device
  • Do not transmit any data externally
  • Can be disabled at any time in your device Settings or within the app

iOS System APIs

Snack Count uses standard iOS system APIs to function:

UserDefaults

We use Apple's UserDefaults API to store small pieces of app state data locally on your device, including:

  • App launch count (for determining when to request app ratings)
  • Rating prompt history (to avoid over-prompting)
  • Notification preferences
  • First launch date

UserNotifications

We use Apple's UserNotifications API to send optional local reminders. These are:

  • Processed entirely on your device
  • Not sent to or through any external servers
  • Completely under your control

SwiftData

All snacking data is stored using Apple's SwiftData framework, which:

  • Stores data in a local SQLite database on your device
  • Is encrypted at rest by iOS
  • Is never transmitted anywhere
  • Is isolated to the Snack Count app only

Children's Privacy

Snack Count does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since we collect no data at all, the app is safe for users of all ages.

App Store Ratings

If you choose to rate Snack Count, you'll do so through Apple's StoreKit framework, which:

  • Is managed entirely by Apple
  • Is subject to Apple's privacy policy
  • Does not share your rating information with Codeleaf Studio
  • Does not link your rating to your identity in our app

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app or legal requirements. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.

Your continued use of Snack Count after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.

Your Rights

Since we don't collect any data about you, traditional data privacy rights (access, correction, deletion, portability) are automatically satisfied:

  • Right to Access: All your data is already accessible to you in the app
  • Right to Correction: You can modify your settings and limits at any time
  • Right to Deletion: Use the "Reset All Data" feature to delete everything
  • Right to Object: We're not processing your data for any purposes you could object to

Data Security

Your data is secured by:

  • iOS built-in encryption at rest
  • App sandboxing (isolates Snack Count data from other apps)
  • No network transmission (no risk of interception)
  • No cloud storage (no risk of cloud breaches)
  • Local-only storage (protected by your device security)

California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). However, since Snack Count:

  • Does not collect personal information
  • Does not sell personal information
  • Does not share personal information

These rights are not applicable because there is no personal information to access, delete, or manage.

European Privacy Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). However, since Snack Count:

  • Does not collect or process personal data
  • Does not transfer data outside the EEA (or anywhere)
  • Does not use your data for any purpose

GDPR data protection principles are inherently satisfied through our complete lack of data collection.
